Momiji Go

A free game of Go, the board game also called baduk and weiqi, set in an autumn temple garden. Play Lord Tsukikage, a fox-masked opponent, at seven strengths, learn the rules in twelve short lessons, or play a friend with a room code.

About the game

Momiji Go runs in a web browser on a computer or a phone, and as an immersive VR game on a WebXR headset such as Meta Quest, where you take the stones from the bowl by hand. On a headset with passthrough it also plays in AR, with the board and Lord Tsukikage set down in your own room.

Hints ring the neighbourhood of a good move before they show the point, a finished game is counted out on the board, and the review of your last five games says in plain words why the better move was better.

How to play

On a computer

Click a point to play a stone. Zoom with the mouse wheel. The panel on the left starts a new game and sets the strength.

On a phone

Tap a point to play. Open the two panels at the top for the game and its score.

In VR on Meta Quest

Press Enter VR, sit at the board, and take a stone from the bowl with your hand or a controller, or tap the point.

In AR on Meta Quest 3

Press Enter AR to set the board in your room. Raise or lower it to suit a table, a sofa or the floor.

What is in it
